If you’ve been around a minute or two, then you know.
You know that, as a website copywriter, writing web copy is my jammiest jam! It’s my absolute favorite thing to do in my business.
But it’s an investment, for sure.
And you need to know what you’re signing up for if you’re thinking of hiring a website copywriter!
So I’m breaking down the Sipsy Ink copywriting process here:

Your Experience with a Website Copywriter: The Sipsy Ink Process
Oh, by the way, if you’re new here (hello, welcome, so nice to meet you!) – I’m Tristyn. And I’m your friendly, neighborhood website copywriter!
I am allll about packing copy with your personality so you stand out from the sea of other brands in your industry.
And here’s exactly how I get it done:
The Introductions!
*waves* Omg, it’s gonna be SO awesome chatting with you. I’m already too excited about getting on a Google Meets to talk more about your brand.
Because that’s the first thing we’ll do!
When you’re ready to start the process (which is all about getting more information – not making a decision on investing yet), I’ll send you a scheduler for a complimentary discovery call.
It’s completely free dollars. It’s short and sweet (about 20 minutes!). And it’s a great time for me to learn more about you! That also means getting to know your brand a little more.
And, of course, if you’re up for it, I’ll tell you a little more about my services as a website copywriter.
Because I ~do~ have a couple of options, at the moment.
(But more on that when we get on the call!)
The Research Phase
If we’re a total match made in heaven (and it’s a go!), then I’ll get started on the very first phase.
There are a few parts of the research phase in all of the Sipsy Ink website copywriting services.
Lemme tell ya though – the research phase? Is like one of the most important parts of any copywriting project.
Why? Well, because without all of the goods (aka research!), your website copywriter is totally going in blind. And that leads to copywriting you’re unhappy with! ):
Don’t worry though. I know how much of a biggie this phase is, which is why I don’t skimp!
Here’s a rundown of what this little ol’ website copywriter does for your brand (btw – I’m pointing at myself right now):
Your Brand Questionnaires + Strategy Call
I’ll need your help with this initially. Don’t worry – you don’t have to write any copy!
I ~will~ send over some questionnaires in your client portal. And those questionnaires will ask you allll sorts of questions about your brand, your ideal client, and your services or products.
After you finish up those, then we’ll hop on a strategy call. This is a great time for me to go through the questionnaires with you and fill in any gaps.
Plus! I’ll get to hear you talk more. And that’s awesome for helping me sound like you as your website copywriter!
Market Research + Testimonial Digging
I’ve gotta become an expert ASAP in your brand, what you do for your clients, and in your market.
So the other part of the research phase is a whole lot of digging! I read up as much as I can on your industry.
I sort through Reddit and Quora posts to see the biggest questions people have about your industry.
And then! I bring in what your clients and favorite people are saying about your brand. Because one of the best ways to join the conversation your ideal client is having in their mind? Is using the very same language that they’re using! And a lot of that comes from your past clients.
So don’t be surprised if I ask if I can send out a survey to some of your previous clients or customers. (Oh and you can totally use what they say as a testimonial, too!)

The Writing Phase
Once the research phase is done and dusted, it’s time to get started on the actual website copywriting!
So what does that mean for you?
Welllll! For a hot minute, you get to sit back and do … nothing. (at least when it comes to your site!) Because I’m gonna take over the writing.
You don’t have to lift a finger! So you can kick back with another spicy margarita (um, can I still have one, too?), and I’ll handle the rest.
Your Web Copy Travelog
A lot of us are so visual. And that makes it hard to see what copywriting could look like on a web design!
And, if I say so myself, it takes away from the magic of getting your new website copy.
So! I’ll create a web copy travelog that shows you what your website copywriting could look like on a web design!
The Editing Phase
With the writing phase finished and your first draft and travelog to you, it’s time to start the editing phase!
Now, here’s where I will need your collaboration. Because nobody knows your brand like you do. And I’m not under any impression that your web copy will be perfect from the get-go.
So you’ll have the opportunity to pour through your first draft and make allll the comments you want.
Tell me what you absolutely love (like, omg, squeeee so excited about!). Tell me what you don’t like. Tell me what’s missing.
Gimme all the deets on what’s working for you and what’s not! (And yes! We can hop on another strategy call to go through it together!)
Then, I’ll make edits to your copy. << We’ll do that one more time, and then your website copywriting will be good. To. go.
Your Brand New Website Copywriting!
After we make it through the two rounds of edits, your website copywriting is ready for you!
If you’re working with a website designer, I’ll collaborate with them to make sure they have everything they need.
But otherwise, it’s ready for you to CTRL + C and CTRL + V into your web design!
